Tomorrow’s World: The Computerized Pub.
Tomorrow’s World was a long-running BBC television series, showcasing new (and often wacky) developments in the world of science and technology. First aired on 7 July 1965 on BBC1, it ran for 38 years until it was cancelled at the beginning of 2003, ostensibly because of falling ratings. However the series was given a brief revival on BBC1 in the 2004 special The Tomorrow’s World Roadshow and there are continuing efforts to bring about a full return.
What ever happened to this idea? I feel like Vegas would have been/is the perfect place to roll this concept out. I was recently at a Bar called the Bull and Bear (get it, because its in Chicago), and they had taps at all of the tables to poor draft beer, with a small touch screen that kept track of how much you were drinking (needless to say, it was a gimmick and it worked well, as it came out to be about 10 dollars a beer). Something more like whats featured in the video, but with a touch screen menu and direct ordering would be so much cooler. I’d order too many drinks purely for the novelty of it.
