Ralph McQuarrie.

Image

Ralph McQuarrie, the artist who helped George Lucas bring his vision of the Star Wars universe to life, passed away this past Saturday of complications from Parkinson’s Disease.

While I realize Star Wars is a bit too new to be considered Atompunk, the films are still classic pieces of science fiction and the concept art behind them are absolutely amazing.  McQuarrie also worked with CBS news to design posters for the Apollo space missions, which I can’t seem to find.
